Donate today to support our cause in helping young Christian Scientists attend a camp for Christian Scientists.

Contributors like you who invest in The Campership Fund truly make it possible to offer camperships to our Sunday school children so they can experience an unbelievable summer. The Campership Fund exists because individuals like you make the decision to support young Christian Scientists. Last year the Campership Fund approved 136 applications and provided $98,880 in grants. We expect the need to increase each year. Our ability to meet this need is only possible through support from our generous donors.

Letter from Michael & Dee Sharples

Why do we donate to the Campership Fund?

For us the answer is simple. We believe that there is no better way to support our Christian Science youth as they grapple with the challenges facing young people and seek answers that could last them a lifetime. Dedicated Sunday School teaching is essential to their development, but the opportunity to practice this unique way of life in a 24-hour camp setting supportive of their ideals can anchor them to those ideals in the most practical and long-lasting way.

We saw the impact that attendance at a camp for Christian Sciencist had on our two daughters when they were in grade school. Suddenly they had mentors and friends who were putting into practice every day in all kinds of settings the truths they loved but may have been reluctant to share with their friends at home. And it was fun! They gained a new appreciation for the scope of the Christian Science movement, and how to work with Christian Scientists practitioners and nurses. They cherished those summer weeks as a special time with special people, and strengthened their commitment to living their lives as Christian Scientists. They went on to attend and graduate from Principia.

Of course, there is no guarantee that every child who is given the opportunity to attend a camp for Christian Scientists will turn it into a life-long commitment to our religion. But shouldn’t we make it our goal to enable every Sunday School student to have the opportunity to find out for themselves?

We think so, and that is why we support this worthwhile mission.
