Distributions from a Donor Advised Fund

Your Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a convenient way for you to give while realizing tax benefits. A couple of advantages are:

  • When you give to The Campership Fund (TCF) through your DAF you may be eligible for a federal income tax deduction in the year of contribution, even if the funds are granted to TCF in a later tax year

  • Some donors use DAFs as a tax planning tool, contributing in high-income years and alternating between itemizing deductions and taking the standard deduction, depending on their tax situations

  • Donating appreciated assets to a DAF allows you to sell them without paying capital gains and taxes. In most cases, appreciated marketable securities are used to fund DAFs; however, depending on the DAF sponsor, it is sometimes possible to use other appreciated assets such as real estate or even cryptocurrency

  • The investments in a DAF will appreciate tax-free, creating additional funds for future donations to The Campership Fund over time

You can recommend a gift to The Campership Fund through your DAF in two ways:

If you don’t already have a DAF account, contact your financial advisor or establish one directly with a financial institution or community foundation that offers DAFs.

If you have a DAF, contact your DAF administrator and recommend a grant to The Campership Fund using the following information:

TAX ID: 58-1987690
The Campership Fund
125 E. Ocean Ave.
Edgewater, FL 32132

Please let your administrator know to include your name and address when they send the gift so we can thank you for your generosity. Contact Kaki Green, Executive Director at 904-614-5889 or kaki@campershipfund.org for more information.

The Campership Fund does not provide legal or tax advice. Please consult with your financial advisor, tax professional, or attorney to determine what is best for your specific situation.
