FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Applications

How much funding does TCF cover?

The Campership Fund provides anywhere from 25% up to a maximum of 75% of an individual’s tuition based on a family’s need.

Can you explain why it is only 75%?

Yes. Each camp believes it is good for families to have some investment in their camp experience, whether it’s for their child or them. Each camp has their own campership fund to help in the event they feel a family needs help beyond the 75%.

Why is there a deadline for campership applications?

To thoroughly review and award funding for camp applicants, The Campership Fund has instituted a deadline. Our deadline helps ensure applications are approved prior to camp starting and allows adequate time to pay the camps prior to start dates.

I missed the May 31 deadline for summer camp applications, can I still apply?

Out of respect for our volunteers and donors, TCF puts a hold on applications for the first 10 days of June to be able to contact and approve all applications submitted prior to May 31. If you would still like to apply for a campership for a summer camp youth program after June 10, you may do so as long as it is 3 weeks prior to the start date of your summer session. Family Camp and/or Adult Programs also need to be at least 21-days or three weeks prior to the start of session.

What happens within a month of applying with my application?

Your application will be reviewed by a TCF staff member for completion. Based on the location of where you live, your application is passed to a local representative who will contact you to verify your application and have a one-on-one conversation to learn more about your family’s camp experience. The representative will also reach out to your reference. After both steps, the representative lets the TCF staff know the application has been reviewed. The TCF applications staff, along with a confidential applications committee, review all applications and awards funding based on financial need. The family and the camp are notified of the award.

What questions will the references be asked?

The reference is asked how they know the applicant. This can lead to additional questions that may include if they know how a Christian Science camp experience will impact the child and/or family.

Does The Campership Fund support NLC or Discovery Bound?

The Campership Fund does support the NLC First Year Orientation Summer at camp. It does not support the Adventure or Service Trips and does not support Discovery Bound programs. If you need funding for either of these, please contact Discovery Bound directly.

What should I do if I fill out something incorrectly on the application?

If you realize you’ve filled out something incorrectly, you can email beth@campershipfund.org and let her know what needs to be corrected.

How do I fill out a Family Camp application?

We do need a separate application for each member of your family.

When will I hear back from you?

In most cases, it takes up to a month before you will hear back from us. It often takes a couple of weeks for us to check references. Once that is completed, the application is reviewed and approved within two weeks.

When does the camp receive the money for my campership?

The camp will receive the funds for your campership sometime between the time your campership has been awarded and before the start of camp.

Will I be notified when a camp receives the money for my campership?

No. The camp is aware of the funds that will be coming to cover the campership being awarded to you.

What should I do if I need to cancel or change either my session dates, length of time at camp or even the camp that I am attending?

Please email beth@campershipfund.org and let her know what has changed.

Can I roll my unused campership award to next summer?

No, you will need to fill out a new application for each summer due to needs that change.
